NEWS
TERM 3 NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents and Carers,
Can I just say a huge well done again to all of our students for their showcases Friday and Saturday. I am so proud of all of you, you are all superstars - you did yourselves and the academy proud. Well done :)
And on that note - our theme for the next showcase and work for the term is .... Encanto! Which I know has been a source of great excitement for a number of our students.
Payments:
If you are on GoCardless payments will be taken automatically as per your preferred payment schedule on or around Friday 20th April.
If you pay by card payment, please could you make the payment on or before Friday 20th April - I will pop a little email reminder out a few days before, and please find the summer term fee amounts on our website here.
Dates:
New term dates are up on the website here. Summer term this year is short, so all Evercreech classes have the usual 12 weeks - but it does mean we have a longer second half of the term to compensate, and one Friday class will be held at the West Pennard Village Hall.
West Pennard will have 11 weeks this term. Please take the time to check your dates. Term starts back w/c 25th April - but please note that some classes don't have their first lesson until the following week, due to hall availability.
Showcase week: w/c 25th July
Collett Park Day performance: Saturday 11th June (time tbc, )
Uniform:
For the new summer term and going forwards we are please asking all Minis and Midis students to attend classes in academy uniform (Tshirt and/or Hoodie) and black/neutral leggings/joggers or shorts for the warmer months.
If you haven't yet ordered uniform, I will be putting an order in in the early part of the new term. You can order here (please remember Tshirts in particular are fairly generous in sizing - so please check measurements before ordering).
I am also please encouraging all students to consider dance shoes to return to class this term, from a health and safety perspective, but also to support learning techniques (such as turns). Any soft soled dance shoe is fine (ballet or jazz) and I recommend a split sole. Ballet shoes start from about £5 and I recommend Dancewear Central. Please choose a black shoe if this option is available.
Spectators:
We are still asking if parents and carers could please leave students to work with us in our Minis and Midis classes, unless we have discussed staying and/or your student is vulnerable and requires support. Thank you.
Refreshments:
Please could students bring a full water bottle with them to classes. I can refill them, but I can't unfortunately provide drinks. Please can no food be brought to class.
One to One lessons:
I have one space available for one to one singing lessons to start after the Easter term - 6pm - 7pm Tuesday evenings weekly. If you are interested, please pop me a message.
Finally - our T&C's are here on the website and Code of Conduct here. By attending a taster session or enrolling in the academy you agree to our terms and conditions and our code of conduct, and we will advise you if these update in the future.
Most of the info you need can be found on our website, Check out FAQ's or the Parents Info sections as a first port of call - but if you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to come back to me (I will be intermittently working in the office over the Easter break. You can contact me via Facebook if urgent, or I will come back to you when I am next in the office). This newsletter will be stored in the 'latest news' section of the website, under 'about us'.
I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing break, and I will see you next term :)

Students are to please attend their usual class on the day of their performance, as this time will be used for final preparations. Please could all audience members arrive 5 minutes before the start time, ready for us to begin the show at the allotted time.
The showcase is an opportunity for us to show you what we have been working on this term, structured as a performance of our original show 'The Countdown To Christmas'. It is not a full-scale performance - but we are sure you will have lots of fun seeing what we have been up to in class, and will leave feeling wonderfully Christmassy :).

I know how proud we will all be of our students, but please can I ask (for safeguarding reasons) that no photographs or videos are taken during the performance. We plan on taking photos during the dress rehearsals of those students who have permission to have their photo taken, and I will share these in the private parents facebook group.
Very exciting - a busy few weeks ahead!
SPRING NEWSLETTER - TERM TWO 2022
Dear Parents and Carers,
First of all - can I just say how special the shows were last week! Every single student should be so proud of themselves for their courage to get up on stage and perform their socks off. I know for many, it was their first time on a stage - and I am sure you will all agree that every student in the academy did themselves extremely proud.
I can't believe how quickly the last term flew by - but here we are, thinking about January, and I wanted to share some information with you ahead of the Christmas break. I will be out of the office from lunchtime(ish) this Thursday 16th December and due to a minor operation and of course taking some time out to spend with my family, I won't be checking emails or the office phone until 5th January at the earliest. If something is super duper urgent you can reach me via Facebook Messenger here, and I'll come back to you as soon as I can - thank you in advance for your understanding.
Please keep this email somewhere you can refer to for the remainder of the term if needed, and it will be saved on our website here.
Term Dates and Payments
Our current term has now finished for all classes. All of our new term dates and fees can be found on our website here. Classes start back w/c 10th January, and broadly run in line with the school term from that point.
If you are on our GoCardless payment system, there is nothing you need to do. The first (or full) payment will be automatically debited on or around 30th December and the second installment (if applicable) will be automatically debited on or around 25th February 2022. Our fee amounts can be found on our website here (siblings will receive our sibling discount) and are the same as last term for the Minis and Midis. Your preferences (pay in full or two installments) have been stored from last term, or recently updated if I have reached out to you in the last week. If you would like to change your preference, you must please contact me before 2pm tomorrow (Wednesday 16th December) as the payments will be set up to be debited automatically, and once I have done this I will not be able to change them.
If you pay by bank transfer, please could you pay the first or full payment before or on 30th December and the second installment (if applicable) before or on 25th February. Please see the website here for payment amounts, and I will pop out reminder emails closer to the time.
Please note that I will not physically be in the office on the 30th when the GoCardless payments are debited, but any issues, please reach out to me via facebook messenger as above as soon as you notice any issue and I will sort it asap.
I must please stress that whether you choose to pay in full or in two installments, the commitment is for the full twelve week term. Once a space has been secured, it is allocated to that student for the full term, and a full term's payment is required, regardless of how many sessions are attended or if you choose to leave the academy before the end of term. Please take the time to review our Terms and Conditions for full details.
Communication
Our two key communication methods are email and Facebook. Please save this email address to your 'safe senders' list to ensure we don't end up in spam. We also have a Facebook Hub for parents of enrolled students where we post class material for at-home rehearsal, news and updates. The link to the group is here.
The contact number for the office is 07973262895 - but this phone is office based, linked to an answering service and is not monitored constantly, but I check in regularly. The office is open between 10am - 3pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 10am - 12pm on Friday. The only way to catch me with a super urgent message (especially outside office hours) is via Facebook Messenger as above, and if I'm not teaching I'll come back to you as soon as I can. If your message isn't urgent, email is the best way to communicate please, so we can keep track of queries and conversation threads.
What to Wear/Uniform
Our preferred uniform is our Academy Tshirts and Hoodies with plain black/grey/navy joggers, leggings or shorts please. These are available to order via our website here or direct with Bumblez shop on Shepton Mallet High Street. I will be putting in an order over the Christmas break, so if you would like to order anything via me please let me know sizes and personalisations ect before Thursday lunchtime (but you can still pop into Bumblez on their open days after this week). One note of caution is that we have found the Tshirts to be running large, but hoodies seem relatively true to size. Unfortunately once a garment has been personalised we can't offer a refund, so please do pop into the shop to speak to Debbie to check sizing if you are unsure (but I advise double checking her opening hours over the Christmas break before making a special trip to Shepton). Please note I currently sell these at the cost price to me, as an introductory offer, so cannot unfortunately offer any discount/sibling discount.
The uniform isn't currently mandatory, but we are considering making it mandatory (minis and midis only) for the start of the next summer term (after Easter) by way of advance notice, and there may be a small increase in cost later down the line.
If a student isn't wearing an Academy T-shirt or Hoodie, please can we ask that they wear the following:
A neutral (black/grey/navy) Tshirt and or Hoodie
Neutral (black/grey/navy) Leggings, jogging bottoms or shorts. No dresses, skirts or jeans please.
Also:
No jewellery, tassels or loose clothing that may get caught or hurt the student or others please. Please can long hair be tied back and off the face.
Please remember that most of our class is physical and movement based, so clothing must please reflect that for safety reasons. General rule of thumb, if it's not something that would be worn for a school PE lesson, it's probably not quite right for our classes either :)
Footwear is soft soled dance shoes - ideally split sole jazz shoes, but any soft jazz or ballet shoe is fine, or bare feet. Please note with bare feet, particularly with our Midis, they may start to struggle with feet getting stuck to the floor when practicing technique work (such as turns), so I really do advise investing in some soft soled shoes if you possibly can. In addition, as all spaces are community spaces, I always check for anything obvious that may harm little feet, but I can't guarantee the cleanliness of the floor.
If you have a pair of soft soled dance shoes that no longer fit, please do donate them to us, and we can donate them back out to students that need them.
We don't have any dedicated changing facilities at our halls (except toilets), so please arrive ready to begin class.
Our Code of Conduct information, which includes notes about attire can be found on our website here
Spectators
In our Micros session a parent or carer please needs to remain with the student for the duration of the session, and maintain responsibility for their student before, during and after the end of the class.
For all of our other sessions (Minis and Midis), please can we ask our parents and carers to leave their child at the Academy to work with the class leader(s) for the session. We now have the fab Leanna assisting me in both of our Minis classes for the new January term - so plenty of support for our students. To reassure you, we are both enhanced DBS checked and experienced in working and being with young children - Leanna is mum to our wonderful students Joseph and Immanuel and has been working with us for a term at the academy with our Saturday group, so I am absolutely delighted that she can now also support with our Friday group.
Parents and/or carers are welcome to stay for the first session to ensure students settle back in, or drop in at the beginning and towards the end, but we find that students often focus, engage and show higher levels of confidence and concentration without parent or carer observation for the duration of the class. If, however, your student is vulnerable and they require your supervision or support you are welcome to stay - we have likely discussed this previously.
If COVID restrictions continue to accelerate, we may have to ask all parents and carers to not enter the hall at any point during sessions and operate a drop off/pick up system to limit the number of people in the room, so please be prepared that this may be implemented if we are required to do so (although we continue to hope not). More about COVID below, and I will update on this again in the New Year, when we hopefully know more about what will happen.
If a parent or carer is staying, please could we only have one parent or carer per student, and please could we very politely ask that any parents or carers remain silent and unobtrusive (including not waving at, or calling out to students) during the session so as to not distract and potentially cause accidents.
Please can we ask that spectators do not take photos or videos at any point during our sessions for child safeguarding reasons.
Thankyou.
Refreshments
We don't have a snack break, so please don't bring any food to lessons, and especially no food is to please be consumed during a lesson as this is a health and safety risk. Please can you ensure your child has a water bottle. I have been asked by the hall to not use their dishware, so will no longer be able to supply glasses/cups during class - only top up water bottles.
Performances
I can't believe we are already thinking about this, but our Minis and Midis will be working towards an original show to perform at the end of the 12 week term to parents and carers (Covid Permitting). This will be at the end of their respective session, on the last session of the term (8th and 9th of April) - fairly similar to this term, as it seemed to work well - one for the diaries! The show will be 'Singing (Dancing and Acting) In the Rain' and will feature an original script written in-house, alongside songs and dance routines, which will be rehearsed during the weekly classes. As with last term, to perform in the last session is not mandatory, the weekly classes are the most important element of what we do, so if your student would prefer to not perform, please let me know as soon as you are able - it isn't a problem.
Lockdowns and Covid
At the time of writing the Omicron variant is spreading, but the jury seems to be out on what the next few weeks hold for us. Some restrictions are being tightened again, but there seems to be a lot of debate in parliament/the media on how serious this variant is in terms of hospitalisations and ultimately deaths, and what restrictions are appropriate. We are of course all hoping that nothing will be as severe as the full scale lockdowns we saw in 2020 and early 2021, but if the last two years have taught us nothing, it is that we cannot predict the future.
Generally speaking (if the rules are the same as the last time around) if schools can stay open, we can continue to teach in person - albeit with appropriate precautions. Fingers crossed we will not have to implement our own 'Plan B', but if we do, we will move into online teaching via Zoom. Group sizes will remain the same, content will remain the same and students will be able to participate and learn in almost exactly the same way they currently do in our 'in-person' sessions. We will even be able to offer local (socially distanced) pick up points for props and costumes ect - so students will get the full term experience. Costs will remain the same, as although I won't expect to pay for the venues, there will be additional costs in upgrading our online platforms (such as zoom) and my time offered and the content offered will be exactly the same. I hope this is understandable and I thank you for your support.
For reassurance, I am currently teaching all of our classes on a national home education platform virtually, and I can assure you our classes translate well online and are extremely popular. We will even be able to perform our end of term showcase online, so parents won't miss out either.
All I ask is that if we do go into a lockdown and have to move online, hopefully it will only be very temporary - I understand it will be a challenging time for all of us, but please continue to support the academy, and send students, as a very small business if we don't get that support we might not be able to come back at all when this is all over. Thank you so much in advance :)
For now - let's focus on the in person lessons, and hope that our 'Plan B' doesn't happen. As above, if you don't need to stay to observe a session, please leave your student with us to minimise the amount of people in the room, and please only one observer per student or family group. If you are staying, please could you wear a mask once inside the building and sanitise everyone with you on the way in. I will open the door to ventilate between sessions. If the student has any COVID/Cold symptoms please perform a lateral flow test and only come to class if they have a negative result. As the group leader I am double vaccinated (booster jab booked for next week) and regularly undertake lateral flow tests.
I will update again in the New Year if our position has to change, and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns. Thank you in anticipation of your continued support.
Examinations and One to Ones
I am registered to teach the LAMDA Musical Theatre Solo/Duo Syllabus for examination and certification. To be entered for examination requires regular one to one tuition alongside group classes (there is an additional cost for this). You can find more details here - or please contact me to discuss. I can also offer one to one singing lessons for fun and skills building.
Finally - we have recently updated our T&C's and these are here on the website and Code of Conduct here. By attending a taster session or enrolling in the academy you agree to our terms and conditions and our code of conduct, and we will advise you if these update again in the future.
Most of the info you need can now be found on our website, Check out FAQ's or the Parents Info sections as a first port of call - but if you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to come back to me (reminder - if urgent, and you would like a response before 5th Jan, please contact me before lunchtime on Thursday 16th). This newsletter will be stored in the 'latest news' section of the website, under 'about us'.
I hope you have a magical (hopefully relaxing) Christmas break. Here's to the end of another wonderful term and the academy and I can't wait to see you all back in the New Year.
HALF TERM UPDATEÂ NEWSLETTER - TERM TWO 2022
Dear Parents and Carers,
As our first half term ends this week (where does the time go?) I thought it a good time to pop through an update.
Classes are on as normal this week, and we break next week for half term - please see the website here for details on term dates.
I will be in and out of the office next week during half term. If you need to contact me urgently, please use the messenger service via our Facebook company page. For anything non urgent, please pop me an email and I will pick it up when I am next in the office.
Payments
If you have paid for this term in full, there is nothing you need to do. If you have paid for this term in two installments and pay by GoCardless, the second installment will be debited around or on the 25th February. If you pay via any other means, and pay per half term, please could you make the second payment before or on Friday 25th February. Thank you very much in advance. Just a polite reminder that whichever way you choose to pay, the commitment is for the full 12 week term. Please see our T&Cs on the website for more info.
Dates
Showcase dates for this term are Friday 8th April and Saturday 9th April. More details will follow after half term. We are considering having the showcases filmed professionally if there would be enough interest from parents and carers in purchasing the recording (a small cost would apply to purchase - details tbc if there is enough interest). Please let me know if this is something you might be interested in.
I am very excited to announce that we have been invited to perform at Collett Park day in Shepton Mallet on Saturday June 11th. I have requested an afternoon slot, to ensure our Saturday group students can participate, and it will be open to all summer term enrolled Minis and Midis students who wish to join us (please note there might be an extra rehearsal outside of usual class times for all students participating - dates tbc). At the start of the summer term I will collate the list of those who wish to perform and more details will follow from this point.
All other term dates are on the website.
Uniform
I have been communicating with Debbie, and unfortunately it looks like we are still awaiting a number of garments that have been on order for a few weeks now. A combination of Brexit and Covid have caused delays and backlogs in shipping and stock availability. If you do wish to cancel your order, please let me know, and if you are happy to wait, thank you and I will continue to keep you updated - It will arrive! If you are thinking of ordering any uniform, please be aware that there might be a few weeks wait on some items, for this reason. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Spectators in class
A very polite reminder that if you could please leave your student with us to work for the duration of their lesson, as opposed to staying in the hall with them for the class we would be most grateful (unless we have discussed otherwise). The end of term showcase is where they will wow you with everything we have learned this term :) If you would like to remain in the building, we can put chairs outside the double doors to the hall, or on the ramp for you. Thank you.
Covid
Thankfully all seems to have quietened down on the Covid front, however as previously mentioned we do have a student at our academy who is vulnerable and is currently awaiting a crucial surgery. For this reason please could I continue to ask everyone to sanitise or wash hands before class, be vigilant about symptoms and to please not attend class if you have tested positive for COVID or are awaiting the results of a test. I will continue to ventilate the space between classes, and please wear a face covering if you can when entering the hall.
Most of the other info you might need can be found on our website, Check out FAQ's or the Parents Info sections as a first port of call - but if you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to come back to me. This newsletter will be stored in the 'latest news' section of the website, under 'about us'.
I will also pop out an email before the end of the week with all showcase scripts in case any of the students wish to practice over half term. In addition to this, the dance routines are up on the Facebook hub as are youtube links to the tracks we will be singing to, so hopefully you should find everything you need to keep going.
I will see most of you in class this week, and then have a wonderful half term :)
NEWS
TERM ONE - HALF TERM UPDATE
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for a wonderful first half term at the academy. Our Doulting Micros, and our Saturday Minis and Midis groups each have one session remaining this week, but all other groups are now finished for half term.
If you have singing lessons with me, there are lessons this week, but we break for half term next week.
I will be out of office for the week of half term (25th Oct - 2nd Nov), responses to email, phone and correspondence via social media will be limited during this time, so please catch me with any queries before Friday this week - thank you for your understanding.
All classes and singing lessons resume w/c 1st November. I am back in the office from Tuesday 2nd November. Please remember you can find the dates, times and locations for all of our classes on the website here, and find most info on our website.
Payments (Minis and Midis)
If you pay via 'Gocardless' and chose to pay in two installments, the second instalment will be debited around w/c 1st November. You don't need to do anything :)
If you pay by bank transfer or card machine and pay per half term, please could all payments be made before Monday 1st November. If you paid using our card machine, and don't have a session before this date, please can you be ready to pay at the start of the next session.
As a reminder, our Minis and Midis classes are a booking for the full twelve week term (or the remainder of it if you join us part way through). We offer to split the payment over the two half terms as an option, but the commitment is for the full term.
Micros New Half Term
The booking for our new Micros Christmas half term is open on our website. Please follow the link to our website here, or if you are on GoCardless please confirm you would like to return and I can sort it all on our end. You will have received a separate email about the new half term with all the details - but please come back to me with any questions. If you know you aren't coming back, please do let me know and I can stop emailing you :)
End of Term Showcase (Minis and Midis)
The dates will coincide with our final lessons of the term, and will be at the Evercreech Village Hall as follows (specific times TBC closer to the date, but please see a rough idea below):
Friday Minis: Friday 10th Dec, approx 4.15pm
Friday Midis: Friday 10th Dec, approx 5.30pm
Saturday Minis: Saturday 11th Dec, approx 9.45am
Saturday Midis: Saturday 11th Dec, approx 11am
If you know your student won't be here for these dates, please let me know as soon as possible. Equally if your student doesn't wish to participate in the show, please let me know. The weekly technique classes are the most important element of what we do - the end of term showcases are an opportunity for us to showcase the work we are doing in class, but if we can avoid last minute absences that would be incredibly appreciated.
As you can imagine the showcase will be very much a snapshot of the work we do in class and will not be a formal performance, so please reassure your student if they are nervous. The showcase will be open to parents, carers and close family members - not the general public. There is no charge, but we will ask you to book through 'Eventbrite' so we can get an idea of numbers, and ticket numbers will be limited per student. You will receive this link closer to the time.
Uniform (All)
Our preferred dress for class is one of our academy T Shirts and or a Hoodie with neutral (ideally black) leggings, jogging bottoms, shorts or similar movement friendly bottoms. We recommend jazz shoes, ballet shoes or bare feet to avoid injury.
At the moment the academy wear is not mandatory, but if the student isn't wearing the above, please can we request that they come in a neutral (ideally black) Tshirt/Hoodie with neutral (ideally black) leggings, jogging bottoms, shorts or similar movement friendly bottoms. Footwear as above please. Please could we ask for no skirts or dresses. Equally nothing with tassels or anything that could hurt the student or other students. Also please no jewellery (including earrings and rings) and can long hair be tied back. Thank you for your cooperation.
The Tshirts and hoodies can be purchased via our website here, or directly in the Bumblez Shepton Mallet High Street shop. Debbie is happy for you to pop into the shop to check sizing, as please note, once the Tshirts/hoodies have been personalised we cannot refund or exchange them unless faulty. All our little people come in their own special shapes and sizes - but overall we have found that the Tshirts seem to come up big and the hoodies are fairly true to size - please take your own precautions to check if you are unsure.
Terms and Conditions and Code of Conduct (All)
We have recently updated our terms of conditions and code of conduct. Please use the links below to view the updates:
By attending the academy parents, carers and our students agree to our terms and conditions and code of conduct.
Spectators (All)
For our Minis and Midis classes we recommend that students are left with us to work and are collected at the end of the session. If you would like to stay and observe please can we respectfully ask that you remain quiet and unobtrusive to the session to allow the students (and teachers) to focus - thank you very much for your understanding.
In our Micros classes we expect a parent or carer to remain with the student, and take responsibility for that student before, during and after class.
For both classes, please can we only have one parent or carer attending per student to keep the numbers down in classes.
Covid (All)
I have been advised of a very small number of positive Covid tests - from a student, and a parent of one of our students. As the classes are weekly, and neither of the positive tests are from the same group, I am confident that the academy is not the source of a spread/outbreak - but please can we continue to be vigilant. Please can all students, parents and carers entering the building sanitise before coming in. If you, the student or a family member has any symptoms (even those of a common cold), please can the student take a lateral flow test before attending class, and in our Micros classes, please can that be extended to the parent accompanying student(s). If a test is positive, please don't attend class until the student/you has a negative PCR test or have completed the isolation protocol.
Face masks will not be mandatory, but if you feel more comfortable wearing one, you are welcome to do so. Wherever possible I will ventilate the rooms - so please bring extra layers as the weather gets a little colder.
In our Micros classes - I appreciate this can be difficult with little ones - but wherever possible please try to discourage them from putting props in their mouths during class. I sanitise everything between classes, I take regular lateral flow tests and have been double vaccinated.
If we do go into any form of restriction, local or national lockdown at any point, classes will continue online at the same times and days we currently offer.
Refreshments (All)
We don't have a snack break in any of our classes, so no need for any food to be brought to sessions, thank you. Please do ensure your child has a filled, good size water/squash bottle - as we do get hot and work hard.
Facebook Hub (All)
This is where we post updates, class material, dance videos, news and information. If you aren't already a member, please join us over on our private parent/carers Facebook hub, by clicking the link here. This is a great resource if a student misses a class and wishes to practise, as you will find everything you need here.
One to One Singing Lessons (Midis)
I have a few spaces remaining this term for one to one singing lessons - either for practise and fun, or to work toward LAMDA examination. Please click here for more information or ping me an email to enquire. I recommend them from around the age of 7 and up.
Hopefully that answers everything you need to know up to the end of term - but as always, please don't hesitate to call or email me if there's anything you'd like to discuss, and please remember most info can now be found on our website.
Have a lovely half term :)

If you have confirmed for either the 6 week term in the Micros or the 12 week term in the Minis or Midis and aren't yet in the group, the link is here. If you are currently enrolled for a taster session only, please come back to this link and join the group if you decide to enrol with us :)
What to Wear/Uniform
New for the Autumn term we have Academy T-shirts and Hoodies. These are available to order via our website here or direct with me (and thank you to those who have already ordered). The closing date for orders and payment to guarantee items to start the new term with is next Wednesday 25th, but we will do subsequent smaller orders throughout the term. These are currently at cost price as an introductory offer for this term, and the items are not mandatory for this term. We please ask that these are worn with neutral (black/white/grey/navy) leggings, joggers or shorts.
If a student isn't wearing an Academy T-shirt or Hoodie, please can we ask for the following:
A neutral (black/white/grey/navy) Tshirt and or Hoodie
Neutral (black/white/grey/navy) Leggings, jogging bottoms or shorts. No dresses, skirts or jeans please.
Also:
No jewellery, tassels or loose clothing that may get caught or hurt the student or others please. Please can long hair be tied back.
Footwear is soft soled dance shoes - ideally split sole jazz shoes, but any soft jazz or ballet shoe is fine, or bare feet. Micros can wear soft soled trainers, dance shoes or pumps if non -marking or again bare feet. We are in the process of making all of these items available to purchase on our website along with the hoodies and T-shirts - please keep an eye out over the next week or so. We don't have any changing facilities at our halls, so please arrive ready to begin class.
More information can be found on our website here - please scroll for 'code of conduct'.
Spectators
In our Micros session a parent or carer please needs to remain with the student for the duration of the session.
For all of our other sessions (Minis and Midis), we would like to encourage our parents and carers to leave their child at the Academy to work with the class leader(s) for the session. You are welcome to stay for the first session to ensure they settle back in OK, or drop in at the beginning and towards the end, but we find that students often focus, engage and show higher levels of confidence and concentration without parent or carer observation for the duration of the class. If, however, your child is younger or vulnerable and they require your supervision or support you are welcome to stay. If a parent or carer is staying, please could we only have one parent or carer per student, and please could we very politely ask that any parents or carers remain silent and unobtrusive during the session so as to not distract the students. Please can we also ask that spectators do not take photos or videos at any point during our sessions.
Refreshments
We don't have a snack break, so no need for any food. Please do ensure your child has a filled, good size water bottle - as we do get hot and work hard :)
Performances
Our Minis and Midis will be working towards an original show to perform at the end of the 12 week term to parents and carers (Covid Permitting). This will likely be at the end of their respective session, on the last session of the term (December 10th & 11th) - I will confirm all of this closer to the time. The show will be themed around a seasonal Autumn/Winter/Christmas countdown and will feature an original script written in-house, alongside songs and dance routines, which will be rehearsed during the weekly classes.
We have also made links with local drama clubs and societies which may require children and young people for performances. We will advertise these opportunities as and when we are approached about them.
Lockdowns and Covid
We have removed many of our COVID restrictions - however we are still asking everyone to sanitise their hands when entering and leaving the hall. We are also still working in a socially distanced way with the students, and creating a syllabus that allows them to remain distanced. Masks are not mandatory for observers, but you are very welcome to wear them if preferred. We will continue to have the side door open for ventilation until it becomes too cold to do so. As the class leader I have been fully vaccinated and I regularly undertake the lateral flow testing.
If we do enter into any national or local lockdowns, classes will continue online.
We continue to ask that you please do not attend classes if your child has symptoms, has COVID or has been told to isolate. We also politely ask that if your child has been/is unwell with any other illness or bug that they do not attend classes until well enough to do so, and no less than 48 hours after any tummy upsets.
Examinations and One to Ones
We are delighted to confirm that I am now registered to teach the LAMDA Musical Theatre Solo/Duo Syllabus for examination and certification. To be entered for examination requires regular one to one tuition alongside group classes. You can find more details here - or please ping me an email to discuss.
Finally - we have recently updated our T&C's and these are here on the website. By attending a taster session or enrolling in the academy you agree to our terms and conditions, and we will advise you if these update again in the future.
Most of the info you need can now be found on our website, Check out FAQ's or the Parents Info sections as a first port of call - but if you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to come back to me :)
Enjoy the rest of your summer - I can't wait to see you all in September!
